The Friends of Laurel Hill State Park Complex, a chapter of the Pennsylvania Parks and Forests Foundation, is a non-profit volunteer organization composed of members who share a love for the parks and are motivated to share their time and talent.

The primary mission of the Friends of Laurel Hill is to contribute to the park, help maintain the trails, and help with special projects to raise money for improving the park's recreation, environmental education, and interpretation programs.  The group also helps serve the public by assisting with the implementation of Pennsylvania State Park programs and facilities.

Some of our past projects include a toddler playground and volleyball court near the camping cottages and a CCC monument honoring those who built the park.  All proceeds from our fundraisers and the Laurel Hill Outpost gift shop stay in the Laurel Hill Complex to help make these and other projects a reality.

Being a volunteer is much more than picking up litter. Learn more about what we do and ways you can help by becoming a conservation volunteer.

Laurel Highlands Hiking Trail Ridge Runners
With 80,000 visitors a year, the Laurel Highlands Hiking Trail is popular destination for backpackers, day hikers, and wildlife watchers. It takes a lot of effort by park staff and our volunteers to keep the LHHT in great condition for our visitors. The Ridge Runners are a group of volunteers who volunteer their time and talents on the Trail. Some projects include trail clearing, repairing washed out sections of trail, bridge maintenance, and more. The Ridge Runners work both independently and during volunteer work day events.

Maintaining seventy miles of hiking trail is quite the challenge! Click here to make a donation that supports the on-going maintenance and improvement of the LHHT. This special fund has been established with the help of the Pennsylvania Park and Forest Foundation.
