Volunteering

Why volunteer - People choose to volunteer for a variety of reasons. For some it offers the chance to give something back to the community or make a difference to the people around them. For others it provides an opportunity to develop new skills or build on existing experience and knowledge.

While basic funding for our parks are by budgets created by DCNR, many of the programs and capital projects have been the result of the Friends group. Your time and talents are not only valuable for the work performed at the parks, but also the accumulated volunteer hours are used in support when seeking grant funding and other financial help for projects. When you join the Friends of Laurel Hill, you become part of the PA DCNR Conservation Volunteer program. Completing the online application gives you the benifit of having financial protection in case you are injured when working as a volunteer.

To get additional information on becoming a volunteer, email laurelhillvc@pa.gov or call the Visitor Center at 814-352-8649 or the Laurel Hill office at 814-445-7725.
